Services & Equipment

El Portal Imaging Center offers a comprehensive array of advanced digital imaging services – all right here in Merced. Our building at El Portal Plaza is designed to house the latest available digital imaging technology and to allow our staff to provide accurate images and diagnoses for local physicians while insuring maximum comfort for our patients.

We invite you to see for yourself why El Portal Imaging Center is the preferred choice for medical and diagnostic imaging services in the Central Valley.

SIEMENS innovative technologies enable us to achieve exceptional speed, efficiency, and precision in MRI to improve patient care and gain a stronger competitive edge.

CT IMAGING

Computerized tomographic imaging is a radiological test that uses the technology of a highly accurate 64-slice CT scan. Multiple helical X-rays are taken rapidly from a region around the body and then arranged by a high-speed computer into a cross-sectional view of internal organs.

For some CT scans, a contrast medium or dye may be used to highlight certain tissues for closer examination. This type of scan helps differentiate between healthy and diseased tissue, making it possible to accurately diagnose many diseases in their early stages.

Open 1.5 Tesla MRI

El Portal Imaging Center is pleased that we have a high field open bore MRI because it provides the best of both worlds.

The high field magnet ensures faster and more accurate reads. Plus, its large bore configuration provides superior patient comfort by minimizing any claustrophobic feelings. MRI is an important tool for viewing soft tissues within the body.

PET Imaging

Our state-of-the-art Hybrid PET-CT 64 Slice allows our radiologists to capture detailed images of how the organs and tissues are actually functioning and is particularly useful in detection of certain cancers as well as heart and brain disorders.

DIGITAL MAMMOGRAPHY

Our advanced digital mammography equipment allows for faster image acquisition (less than a minute), offering you a shorter exam time.

The digital scans also provide an improved contrast between dense and non-dense breast tissue, and we’re able to manipulate the breast images for a more accurate detection of breast cancer.

By adding state of the art ultrasound screening for dense breasts with incentive digital mammography, the maximum sensitivity for detecting early breast cancer is achieved.

NUCLEAR MEDICINE

These procedures are noninvasive and usually painless tests used to visualize the structure and functioning of an organ, tissue, bone, or system of the body.

X-RAY

An X-Ray is a painless test that is often used to detect fractures and dislocations in the skeletal system. X-rays are also instrumental in detecting some diseases in soft tissue.

A chest X-ray is used to identify lung diseases like lung cancer, pneumonia or pulmonary edema (swelling or fluid in the lungs), and an abdominal X-ray can detect blockages of the intestines, among other things.

ULTRASOUND

An ultrasound is a diagnostic imaging technique used to visualize muscles and internal organs, their size, structures and possible pathologies.

Because it is commonly used during pregnancy to check on the status of the fetus, and to check on a man’s prostate or bladder health or view the health of a woman’s uterus and ovaries.
